THE PORTFOLIO

After multiple changes of address, a lot
gets lost.  I did what I could with a few
scans from 60's prints and slides, but
the quality from those Kodak Instamatic
500 shots is not up to the standard I set
for myself now.

Later, I prowled the Lido Island Streets in
Newport Beach, home of Road & Track,
where my parents lived a few doors from
its managing editor Dorothy Clendenin.
Rolls-Royces, Maserati Ghiblis, Ferraris,
and the one restored Early 40s-era Ford
woodie, along with Dad's DeTomaso
Mangusta,  became subjects for my
Canon FT-QL and a half-dozen lenses.

Now after f
our different digitals, I'm back
to my trusty Powershot G3.  The low 4
megapixels is compensated for by the
excellent lens.  Maybe some day I'll get a
digital SLR, but have a look at the results
here and tell me you could see a
difference on your computer screen.

Most are from the Monterey Weekend.
Some are from the LA Auto Show.  Some
are from autumn's "The Best of France
and Italy" concours at Woodley park in
the Sepulveda Basin.
CARS ARE ART
If any assemblage of mechanical components for a purpose can be called art, it's the
car.  The play of light as it changes going around a voluptuously curved fender by Zagato,
the golden sparkle highlighting the polished brass headlight of an ancient Olds, the
subtle patina on an unrestored veteran Bugatti's alloy wheels, all these are eye candy for
the car lover.  No mere photo can catch it all, but until they perfect holography this is it.
